Tier 2 - Enrichment (Adaptation)
Tier 2 is needed by some students and refers to the opportunities that involve alternative learning activities for students to engage in rigorous and complex learning based on documented needs in the areas of strength.
Independent Enrichment (as an Alternative Program through Curriculum Compacting) is a very open-ended exercise, intended to be designed around individual student’s interests and available resources. It is important to note that students benefiting from this program have either been formally identified as gifted or are consistently achieving in the high 90's across subjects and require further cognitive stimulation. These students will have completed a strength assessment in order to inform the topic and format of the personal independent project. Most students benefiting from Independent Enrichment are in the first cycle of elementary school, at which level we do not offer many school-wide enrichment programs except for the Caribou International Math Competition and Destination Imagination: SkillFire.
