Global Issues Problem Solving

Description

  • Participants research a series of global topics (e.g., digital realities, tourism, autonomous transportation, etc.) and apply the creative problem solving (Dr. Torrance, 1974) six-step process to resolve a Future Scene — a hypothetical scenario set 20-30 years in the future, 
  • Culminating in a detailed Action Plan, entries are authentically assessed and scored by trained evaluators.

Criteria for Selection

  • Teams at the junior (grades 5 and 6), middle (grades 7 to 9) and senior (grades 10 and 11) levels,
  • Excelling across all subjects (achieving grades of 95% and above across subjects)
  • Remarkable leadership skills, creative thinking, and reading skills, 
  • Personal interest to participate.
